Riassunto
Si descrivono alcuni habitat forestali di particolare valenza naturalistica, riportati dalla Direttiva 92/43/CEE, presenti sui Monti Peloritani (Sicilia Nord-orientale); per alcuni di essi sono segnalate nuove stazioni di ritrovamento. Per ciascun habitat viene indicata la consistenza nel territorio peloritano ottenuta mediante l’uso di strumenti GIS. Sono stati individuati 4 habitat prioritari (5230* Arborescent matorral with Laurus nobilis, 9180*Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines, 91E0* Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior, 9210* Apennine beech forests with Taxus and Ilex) e altri 4 particolarmente significativi in quanto rari per il territorio peloritano ( 920C Platanus orientalis and Liquidambar orientalis woods (Platanion orientalis), 9330 Quercus suber forests, 9340 Quercus ilex and Quercus rotundifolia forest, 9380 Forests of Ilex aquifolium). Alcuni degli habitat considerati costituiscono gli ultimi frammenti di vegetazioni relitte di epoche geologiche passate e per questo particolarmente meritevoli di tutela. Si analizzano infine i principali problemi relativi alla loro conservazione e gestione.

Summary

Interesting forest habitats types of the Peloritani Mt. (NE-Sicily) listed in the 92/43/CEE directive are presented; for some of that new data distributions are indicated. For each habitat has been calculated the area of occupancy in Peloritan district by GIS tools. Four priority natural habitat types have been recognized (5230* Arborescent matorral with Laurus nobilis, 9180*Tilio-Acerion forests of slopes, screes and ravines, 91E0* Alluvial forests with Alnus glutinosa and Fraxinus excelsior, 9210* Apennine beech forests with Taxus and Ilex). Additional four  have been studied, which are specially interesting because their rarity on the Peloritani Mt. ( 920C Platanus orientalis and Liquidambar orientalis woods (Platanion orientalis), 9330 Quercus suber forests, 9340 Quercus ilex and Quercus rotundifolia forest, 9380 Forests of Ilex aquifolium). Some of the considered habitats represent relict fragments of vegetational formations of other geological times, which deserve a protection policy. The problems related to protection an management of these habitats are also analyzed.
